Mercedes-Benz Posts Record Sales for October

Mercedes-Benz USA reports 23,978 vehicles sold for October 2012, delivering a record year-to-date total of 215,596 new vehicles.  Adding in smart and Sprinter sales for the month brings the total to 26,642 overall sales.

The top performers were the C, E, and GLK models.  The C-Class lead the way with 7,636 vehicles sold.  The 9th generation E-Class was reported sales of 5,265 vehicles.  To round out the top 3, the GLK reported sales of 2,943. Continue reading →

2013 GLK Redesign

The Mercedes-Benz GLK has been redesigned for the 2013 model year, with bolder exterior styling, a dramatically restyled interior, and crisp driving dynamics.

The 2013 GLK redesign involves nearly 1,000 new parts that include bolder front and rear bumpers, new headlights and a more graceful front grille. 2012 Mercedes-Benz Model Year Updates

C-Class Sedan

With over 2,000 new parts, the MY12 facelifted C-Class Sedan marks the most extensive facelift in the  history of Mercedes-Benz. Along with the completely redesigned interior, highlights for the new model year include the following:

  • C250 – New 1.8L I4 (201hp), turbocharged, direct injection engine
  • C350 – New, direct-injection 3.5L V6 (302hp)

Standard equipment upgrades including automatic transmission, rain sensing wipers, auto dimming mirrors, garage door opener, compass, HD Radio, Bluetooth audio streaming,  ATTENTION ASSIST, and adaptive brake with HOLD function.

  •  New paints/wheels/upholstery options
  •  New Lane Tracking Package
  • PARKTRONIC available as stand alone option
  • LED Daytime Running Lamps standard for both sport and luxury
  • Color Instrument Cluster
  • Media Interface relocated to center console
  • All non-AMG C-Class models receive the updated version of our familiar 7-speed automatic transmission which provides better fuel economy and smoother shift quality.

C-Class Coupe

The introduction of the all new MY12 C-Class Coupe will allow Mercedes-Benz to compete for the first  time in the entry level luxury coupe segment. The coupe will share many of the same styling cues found on the sedan such as a completely redesigned interior, new generation of telematics, high resolution color instrument display and increased levels of standard equipment. The coupe will also be differentiated by such standard features as:

  • Panorama sunroof
  • Steering wheel shift paddles
  • 10 way power driver seat with 3 position memory, 4 way power lumbar and power steering column
  • Split folding rear seats
  • Unique C250 wheel

Quickpark Parking Assistance

Mercedes-Benz is now offering Quickpark parking assistance on vehicles that do not have Parktronic installed.  The included vehicles are the w204, x204, and w211 (GLK, C Class, E Class).  It can be added to all vehicles except AMG models. 

Through the use of ultrasound signals, the Quickpark system employs an audible tone to detect and warn of obstacles in the system’s rear field of view, allowing for easier parking and damage avoidance.

– Distance sensors can be painted to match vehicle color
– System engages when in reverse gear
– Quickpark will disengage when towing a trailer.

It should list for around $450 plus install from your local dealer.  As usual let me know if you have any questions.

GLK Trunk Space

I have been asked about trunk space for the GLK with a set of golf clubs.   I have taken a couple photos displaying the width of the vehicle with my bag and clubs.  The photos are taken with the long woods removed from the bag as you can see in the photos.  If you didn’t want to remove the driver it will fit tightly diagonally.  Hope this helps with the trunk size question and with golf clubs
