About the 2010 Global TechMasters International Competition:

Every two years, Daimler conducts the Global TechMasters international competition for Mercedes-Benz Passenger Cars to determine which business unit has the best After-Sales team in the world. In November 2010, MBUSA will be participating for the first time by sending the Mercedes-Benz Stars of Service Champions to Germany where they will compete against teams from 13 other countries.

SLS and CLS Voted Top Car of the Year

Stuttgart – The readers of the German trade journal “Auto Zeitung” have voted the new Mercedes-Benz CLS the best model in the luxury segment. Another first place – for the second time in succession – went to the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG as best super sports car. Both cars received the renowned “Auto Trophy”. Dr. Dieter Zetsche, CEO of Daimler AG and Head of Mercedes-Benz Cars, and Dr. Thomas Weber, Member of the Board of Management responsible for Group Research and Head of Development, Mercedes-Benz Cars, took receipt of the prestigious awards yesterday evening at the Meilenwerk centre in Düsseldorf. Meanwhile, the campaign for the Mercedes SLS AMG, entitled “Is it still a car?” was voted the best advertising campaign of the year. Mercedes-Benz CLS wins Golden Steering Wheel Award

More than a quarter of a million readers and a top-class jury comprising 40 automotive experts and prominent figures have voted the new Mercedes-Benz CLS the best new product in the executive and luxury class segment. As a result, “Bild am Sonntag”, “Auto Bild” and 26 associated European publications have awarded the new four-door coupé model the “Golden Steering Wheel” – one of the most important automotive awards in Europe. Mercedes Benz Heritage November 2010

120 years ago – 28 November 1890: Daimler-Motoren-Gesellschaft (DMG) was officially established following notarial certification of the company in Stuttgart. Earlier, on 14 March, a preliminary contract had been signed by Gottlieb Daimler, Max Duttenhofer and Wilhelm Lorenz.

The independent European safety association Euro NCAP (European New Car Assessment Programme), has rewarded Mercedes-Benz as part of the new Euro NCAP Advanced programme by awarding the company prizes for its anticipatory occupant protection system PRE-SAFE® as well as its PRE-SAFE® Brake driver assistance system. Dr. Michiel van Ratingen, Secretary General of Euro NCAP,presented the awards to Prof. Dr. Ing. Rodolfo Schöneburg, Head of Passive Safety and Vehicle Functions for Mercedes-Benz Cars and Dr. Jörg Breuer, Head of Active Safety for Mercedes-Benz Cars, at the Paris Motor Show. Continue reading

Mercedes-Benz August 2010 Sales

Sales up 15% for the Month and 22% Year-to-Date


MONTVALE, N.J. – Mercedes-Benz USA (MBUSA) today reported August sales of 19,674
vehicles, an increase of 15% for the month, with a 22.2% increase on a year-to-date basis.
impressive gains continued in both the Mercedes-Benz passenger car and light-truck categories. The strongest performer for the month was the popular and sporty C-Class, with sales of 6,100 (up 43.4%).
The 9th generation E-Class followed suit with sales of 5,882 for the month (25.9%) – bringing the year-to-date total to 39,122 (up 70.6%). The versatile M-Class SUV rounded out the top three volume performers with sales of 2,473 for the month.

Also showing strong gains in August is the spacious R-Class crossover (up 389.7%) and
the commanding G-Class SUV (up 62.2%). The company also sold 56 of its newly launched
supercar, the SLS AMG, bringing its year-to-date sales to 321.

On a year-to-date basis, the company sold 144,689 new vehicles, an increase of 22.2 %
over last year.

Separately, through the Mercedes-Benz Certified Pre-Owned (MBCPO) program, MBUSA
sold 6,488 vehicles in August, up 2.7% compared to August 2009 sales of 6,315 vehicles. Year-todate
sales for the MBCPO program were 54,720 – a 6 % increase over 2009 year-to-date sales
(51,410 vehicles) during the same timeframe.
