E Class Safety – Setting the Standard

The evidence is now clear: drivers of Mercedes vehicles are safer on the road than drivers of other car brands. This is the result of a study of Mercedes accident research based on official, anonymous data samples from the Federal Office of Statistics. Having looked at 18,748 accidents resulting in personal injury during the period from 2003 to 2007, the study found that the risk of being seriously or fatally injured as the driver of a E-Class, is 10.4 percent lower than for comparable vehicles of other brands.

The study did not even allow for the fact that Mercedes-Benz vehicles are involved in accidents less frequently than the vehicles of other brands – primarily because, among other reasons, Mercedes-Benz was the first manufacturer to introduce ESP® across the board. The study of accident severity only took into account accidents resulting in personal injury. Mercedes Safety-IIHS Top Picks

Both the C Class and the E Class have both achieved “Top Safety Pick” by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).  To qualify for this award the vehicles must have a score of “Good” in the following categories: front, side, roll over and rear crash protection.

In addition to the IIHS award, the C Class was also awarded five stars in the Euro NCAP (the European New Car Assessment Program), making it one of the Safest cars on the market.

Mercedes-Benz sales up 25.5% for April 2010

Mercedes-Benz USA (MBUSA) today reported April sales of 18, 228 vehicles, an increase of 25.1%, beginning the second quarter with a 25.5% increase on a year-to-date basis.

Continued strong demand in both the Mercedes passenger car and light-truck categories fueled the sales volume for the month. In the sedan category, the popular C-Class – the gateway to the Mercedes-Benz brand for younger as well as first-time Mercedes-Benz buyers – maintained its lead as the volume leader with sales of 4,624. The 9th generation E-Class continued to exhibit strong momentum with sales of 4,528 (up 152.3%) and the versatile M-Class SUV followed suit with sales of 2,269.

On a year-to-date basis, the company sold 68,794 new vehicles, an increase of 25.5% over last year.

Separately, through the Mercedes-Benz Certified Pre-Owned (MBCPO) program, MBUSA sold 7,755 vehicles in April; a 14.1 % increase compared to April 2009 sales of 6,797 vehicles. Year-to-date sales for the MBCPO program were 27,934 – a 7.6 % increase over 2009 year-to-date sales (25,959 vehicles) during the same timeframe.

Mercedes-Benz – Most Loyal Customers

The recent JD Power Customer Retention Survey shows that Mercedes-Benz has the greatest brand loyalty for returning customers.  The article goes on to say that at a time when most brands lost ground, Mercedes improved its customer loyalty to 67%.  In fact, Mercedes-Benz had the highest score in the 7 year history of the survey. 

Pricing for 2011 E Class Cabriolet Announced

Mercedes-Benz has released the pricing information for the upcoming E Class Cabriolet.  MBUSA followed the pricing structure seen at the launch of the E Sedan and Coupe.  The Cabriolet will not see a price increase over the outgoing CLK Cabriolet.

E350 Cabriolet base MSRP is $56850

E550 Cabriolet base MSRP is $64800.
